Wilder Davenport is a writer and reporter from Atlanta, GA.

As a 10-year-old kid, Wilder seriously considered becoming a weatherman. Other contenders were a private investigator or a jazz pianist.

But mostly, he fantasized about being a writer—filling up cheap notebooks with ideas for future novels, studying scriptwriting and poetry, and reading as much as possible. It was a labor of love. Wilder’s ambitions were fueled by creative-writing workshops at the University of Iowa and challenged while pursuing a Bachelors degree from St. John’s College. There, he read the classics—Plato, Darwin, Euclid, and Faulkner—and argued over all of it, often in the same day.

He got his start as a reporter in 2024 when he began covering Central Asian and Eurasian affairs for Atlas News. Now he pursues reporting, with a pointed focus toward geopolitics and foreign affairs.

He hasn’t ruled out reporting about the weather someday.
